Jamal Crawford Has Major Onions

Bill Raftery would’ve undoubtedly sung the praises of Jamal Crawford after his absolute bomb to beat the Phoenix Suns at the buzzer. A one point victory against the Suns is as good as a resume builder gets, but Crawford’s unlikely heat checker from downtown stunned Alvin Gentry and the Phoenix Suns late Friday night, who can’t seem to get it together on the road.

On the inbound play with just under three seconds, Phoenix made sure to lock up tight and avoid any quick lanes to the bucket, holding onto a tight two point lead. Crawford received the ball from about thirty five out and unleashed a prayer over the top of the defender. Amazingly, it went in.

Somewhere, presumably in Utah, a certain NBA rookie wants to know why Crawford had to go ahead and steal his thunder. Crawford’s incredible season off the bench has been highlighted by big shots all year, but none were bigger than this. Off the pine, Crawford averages over seventeen points per game, and is a strong candidate for NBA Sixth Man of the Year.

Madison Square Garden might be the greatest arena on Earth, but part of me has to believe that Jamal Crawford is happy to be playing elsewhere. Fans and experts everywhere are constantly looking for a reason to discredit the Hawks success, and some have went as far as saying they’re primed for a first round knockout because of their youth.
